of Cottage Grove and observed the suspect vehicle traveling eastbound on Cottage Grove Road at a high rate of speed. While approaching the intersection I observed an unmarked Suffield Police cruiser with its emergency lights activated, stopped the exit of Cigna Way. The Suffield Officer then entered onto Cottage Grove Road behind the suspect vehicle heading eastbound in the right hand lane. I activated my emergency lights and siren, and entered onto Cottage Grove Road behind Ofc. Head and Ofc. Farrah.
Ofc. Head was engaged in pursuit by the suspect vehicle with her emergency lights and siren activated. Ofc. Farrah was the secondary vehicle and provided dispatch with appropriate speed, traffic, and direction of travel updates. I followed behind the other BPD officers and observed the suspect vehicle travel eastbound on Cottage Grove Road in a reckless manner, reaching speeds in excess of 60 mph. Just prior to reaching the intersection of Cottage Grove Road and Blue Hills Avenue, the suspect crossed the raised median and began traveling westbound on Cottage Grove Road. The suspect then made an immediate left turn onto Douglas Street. Based upon my knowledge of the area, I knew that Douglas Street has one connecting roadway, Britton Drive. Because Britton Drive connects to Blue Hills avenue without any side streets, Ofc. Moise and I, who was operating a marked BPD cruiser, travelled south on Blue Hills Avenue and stationed our vehicles near the exit of Britton Drive by Blue Hills Avenue. Ofc. Teixeira exited our cruiser and attempted to retrieve our department issued stop sticks to immobilize the suspect vehicle in a safe area. Due to the suspect vehicle's reckless speed Ofc. Teixeira was unable to retrieve the stop sticks in time. Ofc. Teixeira returned to the cruiser and we then turned southbound onto Blue Hills Avenue towards Hartford. The pursuit was terminated by the Shift Supervisor Sgt. Rodriguez as the suspect approached the Hartford city line.
